Announcements (8.30.12)

AWANA Report - Just wanted to take a minute and ask for your prayers for our AWANA ministry. Last night we had our all-time high attendance in the 4 year history of the AWANA ministry at First Baptist.  Last night we had 70 kids!!!  Pray that the Lord will work in each of these hearts this year.

Special Opportunity - The first week of October Bro. Mark will be traveling on mission with Dr. David Sills and Reaching & Teaching International Ministry.  They will be going to train indigenous pastors in the central mountains of Ecuador, South America.  These men have very little training and no education.  Additionally, these pastors do not have libraries of commentaries and theological books to aid them in their study of God’s Word and preaching.

Here’s where you come in:  You can purchase a 1-volume Spanish-language Bible commentary for these pastors for $13.  Bro. Mark will hand deliver these commentaries to the pastors during the week that he is in Ecuador.  There will be about 30 pastors at the week-long training session, so we need donations to purchase 30 commentaries.  Due to fairness, the mission organization has said that we cannot give out commentaries to only part of the pastors.  So, we need donations to cover the price of all 30 commentaries for this to work!!!

After-School Reading Program - We need caring adults/youth (men and women) who are willing to give one hour per week to help a third grade child become a better reader.  You will be using a child’s story Bible and other children’s books, helping them one on one.  We will meet on THURSDAY afternoons at 3pm following the school schedule in the activities building.  Our first session will be September 20th. Please contact Carol Alberg 761-5285 if you would like to help.

Ladies Bible Study — Beginning Tuesday, September 4th from 9:00-11:00 a.m. in the Activities Building. This study will last 11 weeks.  Teacher is Vivian Stock.

Announcements (6.21.12)

Naco Mission Report - This Sunday night in the evening worship service we will share with you about our mission to Naco.  We're going to do something a little different after we share about the trip.  One of the things that missionaries need is encouragement.  The Scriptures teach us to encourage each other (Acts 13:15; Acts 15:30-32; 1 Thess 5:11).  Tim and Jennifer need our encouragement in this time.  We will have a time at the end of the worship service for each person to write a letter of encouragement to the Scarbroughs.  Also, Emily and I were planning on sending them some financial support, and we thought that we would open that up on Sunday night for anyone else who is interested in contributing as well.  The Scarbroughs live on a very meager means from their church + anyone who chooses to support them.

Communion Sunday Morning - We will celebrate communion together this Sunday morning during our worship service.  This is always one of my favorite times for the church.

Breakfast Cooks for Jamboree - Would you be interested in cooking some breakfast for the jamboree vendors as part of our ministry to them?  Let pastor Mark know.  This would be an early morning ministry on the Friday and Saturday of the jamboree.

Galatians, True Gospel Series - We continue our series in Galatians this Sunday morning.  If you've missed any parts of the series, the sermon audio is available on our church website or you can read summaries on Mark's blog.

Not Your Typical Announcement Blog

I just wanted to begin this week's edition of the announcements with something a little different.

I want you to know that I love you, and I count it a privilege to be your pastor. I don't take lightly the opportunity I have to share the Word of God with you every week. Nothing lasts forever, so while I have this opportunity I will embrace it fully, and I hope you'll come prepared every Sunday to hear from our Lord.

You are loved. You are also prayed for. I want you to know that the work of the ministry is not accomplished in human strength, power, or wisdom. It is accomplished by the Spirit of God through prayer. I am praying for you and for our church corporate, that God would do great things through us. I am also constantly praying that we would experience Jesus every Sunday and see him exalted in our midst.

On to the announcement list...

We will also rerun the same VBS in the evenings at Naco Baptist on the Arizona side of the border.

Approximate trip cost is $400. Sign up on the bulletin board. We will purchase plane tickets by the end of March.

Membership Discovery - This is for anyone interested in knowing more information about FBC. If you're wanting to become a member of FBC, then you need to attend this class. March 25th at 5:00pm.
